The Tour de France just had a run that was filled with women. It has been 30 years in the making. This race happened from July 24,2022- July 31, 2022. This was a historic moment for sports a whole. The Tour de France is usually a mens only bicycle race that goes on for 8 days throughout France. This race filled with women is the result of constant campaigning from the Amaury Sports Organisation.

(Annemeik Van Vleuten)

Annemeik van Vleuten was the overall winner of Tour de France 2022. She was awarded the yellow jersey. The yellow jersey is the signature Tour de France color. She won despite having to change her bike a whopping five times and having a stomach bug while competing. She was able to recover while riding into the mountains.

(Marianne Vos)

Marianne Vos won two stages of the Tour de France and was awarded the green jersey. The green points jersey is awarded to the person who is leading the points classification each day. 

The eight days of racing were intense and entertaining. It included steep climbs, gravel sectors and even a mountain top final stage. People were so happy on and off the field. The race was a big success on and off the field.

When it is super hot during the ride, riders can use tights to cool off. You can use pantyhose to put ice in and throw at the riders. You can always wear tights over or under your clothing when it is cool to layer up.
